After beating Hibara's boss, "Anazawa" Date Masamune built Kotaniyama Castle in preparation for the next battle for Aizu. Now its ruins and traces of the moat leave an atmosphere of time past.
Along Lake Hibara's Kaneyama Beach and Wasezawa Beach, as winter draws near, you can see cygnets, Mallards, Great crested grebes and other waterfowl. We cannot see waterfowl in bitter midwinter when Lake Hibara freezes over.
