About 800 years ago, Minamoto Yoshitsune’s older brother, Yoritomo, told him to get out of Kyoto, so he left and as he travelled, on April 2, 1181, he stopped at “ Nochi no Hiraizumi Ochi”, and wanted some candy, according to recounting.
Again, 400 years ago, Daimyo Gamo Ujisato gave 12 permits to the shop owner so the shop could continue from generation to generation. Aizu feudal lord Matsudaira delivered the papers.
An ancestor “nine years previously”, Minamoto Yoriyoshi, (working together with subordinate Hachimantaro Yoshiie), started and managed the candy company yearly, it is said. It had received Benke’s certificate of honor about 800 years ago.
The ingredients in Gorobe’s pure and natural candy are 95% mochi rice, and 5% malt sugar.
