Aizu-Wakamatsu City, Higashiyama Oaza, Ishiyama Aza, Hakayama
Set in the middle of a peaceful forest are the tombs where successive rulers of the Matsudaira clan have been laid to rest. At this attraction, designated a national historic site, they are arranged in a vast mountain clearing more than 500 meters from east to west. It is a place where many people come to walk and pray during the green seasons and the time of the autumn leaves.
This is in a huge forest near Higashiyama Hot Springs, and the scale, size, and the historic landscape of tombstones carved in traditional Shinto fashion are like no other daimyo's family cemetery from the Edo period. It spans from second generation Masatsune to ninth generation Katamori.
