After December 17, Kanei 12 (1635), a number of Christians and Christian foreigners were executed on this mound.
Gamo Ujisato was a Christian feudal lord with the Christian name of Leo, who spread Christianity around Wakamatsu, Inawashiro, Minami Aizu, Koriyama, Miharu, Shiraiwa, Tosawa, Nihonmatsu, and Fukushima. However, in Kanei 9 (1632), 15 members of the Aizu clan, 13 members of the Shirakawa clan, 14 members of the Nihonmatsu clan, and 42 members of the Wakamatsu clan Christian community were martyred.
