There are six large and small five-tiered stupas. Starting from the bottom, the five stacked levels are cubic, spherical, pyramidal, half-moon shaped, and jewel-shaped and mean "earth, water, fire, wind, and sky" Among these five-stage towers, the tallest is three meters tall. It was conceived by 14th generation Inawashiro Castle leader, Moritane, continued when Hyakumenuki Village's Usuiheiuemon told the local townspeople to erect it, and on July 5, Meireki 4 (1658) it was completed. The other five-ring towers were smaller, and a family affair, it is said. At first they were situated along the former Nihonmatsu Kaido but in Showa 41 (1966), the National Bandai Youth Group moved them about 50 meters or so from the original position to the current spot.
