Goshikinuma, "Five Color Ponds" is a general term referring to more than 20 or 30 swamps along Goshikinuma Nature Trail. This area is designated a national park "Special Care Area (Strict about preserving the landscape of the area)"
From the route, starting with Bishamon Pond you can see different colored ponds. During Mt. Bandai's 1888 eruption, huge boulders cascaded down, and after that the spot was reforested and we can see red pines.
The pathway on the course is wide and an easy walk, but you need to be careful of rocks in the way, or slippery mud on a rainy day. Furthermore, to protect the plant growth, one part of the route you can walk only on a boardwalk, and there are narrower spots where you must be careful not to step off the beaten path. Usually there is snow on the path until the end of April, making walking conditions difficult.
