In the center of this venerable temple, also called Aizu Koyasan, is the Amidado, a hall enshrining the image of Amida, that was designated a National Important Cultural Asset and Building in 1950.
It is said that this was built in the first year of Koho (964) by Kuya Shonin, and was rebuilt during the Bunroku Era.
From a long time ago in this area, small towers called “wooden go-rin to” containing small fragments of remains, were placed there by relatives as memorials at which to pray, and this is the only place of this type in Japan where this custom continues. More than 14,000 of these 5-tiered towers are placed here inside the reliquary hall.

Praying at Aizu’s Koyasan in August (Aizu area’s traditional Obon time of prayer) and Kuya Nembutsu (Buddhist dance) were named as “Prefectural Significant and Intangible Folk Culture Assets”.
