The Otani River runs east to west from town, and upstream in its tributary, Takijiri River, is Fudo Falls, or "Jaoiga Falls" as it is sometimes called. During the Heian Period, by imperial command, Kobo Daishi drove away Mt. Bandai's demon with an incantation, according to the traditional recounting, and gave the falls its name (jaoi means "Beat it, serpent" It has a drop of about 15 meters.
Behind the falls there is a cave with Fudomyo statue (Acala) enshrined in it and nearby there remains a Fudodo building.
It has been chosen as one of Fukushima's 30 great waters, with an intense water flow all year round.
