These remains from the Jomon Period extend 200 meters from east to west and 300 meters from north to south on the front road of Iwasaki Shrine, 570 meters above sea level up on the south side slope at the base of Mt. Bandai.
In ages past, after several decades of surface excavations, many earthenware and stoneware item were found, and from Showa 44 (1969) excavations were made four times. Excavation revealed a Middle Jomon Period kiln and remains of a pit dwelling from the middle to the end of Jomon Period pottery, stone things (stone spears, stone axes, stone spoons, stone drills, stone spatulas, stone weights, grinding stones, pounding stones, stoneware dishes etc.), clay figurines and dishes, and stone figures etc., all of it important archaeological information.
These historic ruins also have Aizu governing regulations from the Engi Era, around 900, inside Iwasaki Shrine.
