On Fureai Streeet in Kitakata City, Shiokawaya is a prestigious restaurant run by a farmer who raises mouthwatering "Utsukushima Egoma Swine"
"Utsukushima Egoma Swine" are Fukushima Prefecture's own brand "Fukushima L2" a mixed breeding of three species of pig. The pigs eat a diet mixed heavily with perilla for one month before going to market. The meat and fat acquire extra nutrition because perilla seed is loaded with alpha-linolenic acid.
Shiokawaya is scrupulous in its use of Egoma swine raised in Aizu Shiokawa and fed on Aizu Shiokawa Koshihikari rice.
We recommend our fried ground pork patty (200 yen each). The fat melts and the meat becomes tender. Frankly, you can't beat Egoma pork. Certainly savor this.
