Tamura Mountain Tumulus spans 24.85 meters and has a height of 2.15 meters, and a rounded back end.
It was constructed more than 1,200 years ago, and from it were excavated a mirror with a linear flower design, unusual in Northeast Japan, and a straight sword. This straight sword has been designated as a Prefectural Important Cultural Property.
This is the only place name recorded in the "Record of Antiquities" in Northeast Japan, with traditional stories of Shogun Yondo and Sakagami Tamuramaro, and many other such unusual things.
