Kitakata Kuranosato was built in the style of an old storehouse (kura) with the object of showing the style and culture to future generations. In the old days, Kitakata City was known by different kanji, meaning "North Way (Kita Kata)" In the Edo Period it was a distribution point for the many things that were gathered together here.
