In the old days, when Iwadateyama Castle's Lord, Mikawanokami, was middle aged and childless, he prayed successfully at Chinju Rokuzan Shrine that this might result in a pregnancy. However, at the time of birth, after seven days and nights of labor, the child still had not emerged. He prayed and suddenly an old woman appeared and prayed and talked and rubbed the belly and a boy was safely delivered. He sketched the old woman and placed it on the pillow and said a prayer of thanksgiving. The story spread far and wide, and many people made a pilgrimage here. Now this area is referred to as "Old Lady" and people make pilgrimages to pray for a safe delivery and an easy post-natal recovery. The current building was built in 1924.
