Shinsengumi deputy director, Hijikata Toshizo, stayed at this inn. Hijikata Toshizo injured a leg fighting at Utsunomiya Castle, and Aizu clan痴, Akizuki Noborinosuke reserved the ryokan, at the time a high class hotel, as a place to stay for treatment and recuperation.
Besides this, in 1852, Yoshida Shoin stayed here in the middle of his journey to Northeast Japan.
Today it stands as the Aizu branch of Daito Bank.
