Created by the disruption and damming of rivers during the 1888 eruption of Mr. Bandai, Lake Soharako is in the same group of swamps, ponds, and lakes as Hibara.
.35 square kilometers in size, it is the smallest lake in Urabandai, with water flowing in from the southeast toward Onogawa Lake.
Watershield is native to the lake. Along the lakeshore there are many pensions, and a great number of fishermen come here.
The small isles floating over the surface of the lake are subject matter for many photographers and painters. Lake Sohara campground is adjacent.
