This Aizu clan era farm house, a residence a little higher level than usual in the village, is an important building, showing us construction techniques of that time, with a 12-ken (about 22 meters) ridge beam, and 5-ken (10-meter) cross beams. According to a book recording events and business in November of 1811, they erected this building with architecture typical of the style of about 180 years ago, with its hipped roof systems and thatching.
In 1972, Sagawa's Yamauchi Ichino family donated it, and it was moved and restored in 1973. We cannot have a perfect idea of the original form because reconstruction took heavy snowfall into consideration in its planning.
